The Curse of Alcoholic Drink - Part 6

Proverbs 20:1

“1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.”

Immorality and other sinful activities result from the consumption of liquor.  The end of this is bad for all who are involved in it.  Even though some claim their longevity is due to a certain consumption of liquor every day, they again are deceived.

Romans 6:23

“23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The wages of sin is death, not life.  The death spoken of here is more than just physical death.

Revelation 20:14

“14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

Revelation 21:8

“8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

These verses talk of a second death.  Physical death is a separation from this life here on this earth.  It is a separation from loved ones and from other things as well.  The second death is that final and eternal separation from God.  It is that event that seals the fate of lost people for ever.  At physical death there is no further opportunity to be saved.  There is no purgatory, in spite of the heresy of the Catholic church.  There is no pearly gate where Peter stands to see who will enter Heaven.  The matter of who enters heaven is settled while the person is alive on this earth.  What will you do with the gift that God has to offer you — the gift of eternal life.  That gift is offered to all people.  However, it must be received by each person individually.  Your father or mother cannot receive that gift for you.  Your minister cannot pray that gift into your heart.  You must personally understand that you are a lost sinner in need of salvation.  You must also understand that you cannot save yourself and no other man can save you.  God has provided salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ and that is the only way of salvation.

If you are currently involved in the liquor industry and understand it is sin, God alone can save you.  It is not the liquor that is the primary issue.  It is an evidence that you are a lost sinner in need of salvation.  What is required is for you to turn to God and be forgiven and saved through the blood of Jesus Christ.  Apart from that there is no help for you.

John 3:16

“16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
