The Snare of New Evangelicalism- part 1
Numbers 22-24
Joshua 23:13
“13 Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.”
A snare is a trap. It is something that may look good and an animal or a person will step into it unexpectedly. However once in that snare, it is too late. Now they are caught. In the spiritual sense, there are many things that are set by the devil as snares for people. Things that seem to look good to the naked eye, but yet things that are extremely dangerous and hurtful. The good news is that even though the devil sets snares and many people get caught in them, yet God is greater than the devil. God has provided the way to be delivered from the snares. That way is through the new birth and through humbly walking with God after salvation. Walking humbly with God means that the believer is willing to confess his sin to God and be forgiven and learn to listen more carefully to God’s Word to avoid the snares. In order to avoid the snares, we need to first of all recognize what the snare is. In these next few weeks we are going to look at the share of New Evangelicalism. It is a trap. Many are being lured into it. It speaks to the flesh of man. It is a deadly snare. We must be warned and we must take heed to the warnings. It is the prayer of this writer that many would be warned and would take heed to the warning and either be saved if still lost, or humble themselves as Christians and turn to the truth and and confess their sin and walk in the light as He is in the light.
John 8:44
“44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
