The Snare of New Evangelicalism-part 4

Numbers 22-24

In the New Testament God also established the manner in which the servants of the Lord - Apostles, evangelists and pastors, teachers were to be taken care of.

1 Corinthians 9:9, 10
“9 For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?
10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.”

Throughout the Bible there is no need for the servants of the Lord to be seeking rewards for serving God. A key point here is that the servants of the Lord are serving the Lord, they are not hired hands of the local assembly. They need to be born again individuals who love the Lord and are called of Him to serve Him. When it comes to church leadership, the servants of the Lord will always be men. This is God’s design, not man’s. There are women who claim to be called into leadership today, but they are either deceived or willingly defying God. God does not call women into church leadership. He calls men. However, N.E. disregards God’s truth and choose rather to follow a lie.

Back to our text. Balaam saw his work as available to the highest bidder. He seems to have had some fear of God in that he did not simply go and curse the nation of Israel. He had some regard for God’s command not to go. However even in this, we see that due to the persistence of Balak in seeking to have Balaam come and curse the people of Israel, Balaam kept seeing of God would change His mind. The servant of the Lord needs to have an understanding of the ways of God and not seek some way around a clear command of God’s Word.

New Evangelicalism has done the same thing that Balaam did. They have looked for a way around the clear teaching of God’s Word. New Evangelicalism does not recognize the absolute authority of God’s Word nor do they recognize the preservation of the Word of God. They are not content with God’s promise in Psalm 12:6-7.

Psalms 12:6, 7
“6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”
